The seven lands of Dhaneira are short a few eligible princesses, so the High King allows Teagren, a merchant’s daughter, to join the Quest for Prince Cecil’s hand in marriage. Cecil has bestowed upon her the Kiss of Promise, so Teagren figures the Quest is just a formality. How hard can gathering a token from each of the seven lands be?
She hasn’t counted on Kosse, the bespelled prince who’s lying on a token and requires a kiss to wake him. Once she’s kissed him, she can’t get rid of him. Then there’s Esdras, the young hero-in-training, along to record the Quest for posterity. If that weren’t enough, the vegetarian dragon named George gives her an egg along with her earned token. When the egg hatches, Esdras and the baby dragon find trouble. Teagren tries to stay focused on the Quest, but it’s getting difficult. She’s not even sure she wants to marry Cecil anymore.
