On Wednesday I flew into Dallas for the 2012 ACFW Conference. This year we’re staying in the lovely Hyatt Regency near the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. No sooner did I arrive than I was whisked away by friends and fellow clients of my agent, Joyce Hart, for a group dinner in nearby Grapevine. I’d met a few of these folks last year in St. Louis, but we’ve established an active email loop since then, sharing each other’s trials and joys over the past year. Now it felt like old friends getting together.
A highlight, as always, is seeing so many of my writing buddies–agency-mates and others–here for a few days. It’s nonstop hugs and chatter. Love it!
I’ve long been a fan of Nancy Kress’s terrific books on writing craft, and hearing her speak in person yesterday at our Early Bird session was a delight and challenge. I slipped out a bit before it was over for my volunteer duties at the Registration Desk. This is a terrific spot to help out.
The conference officially started yesterday in the late afternoon with an exciting Opening Session and the first keynote speech by Michael Hyatt.
Today and tomorrow classes are in full swing, then I’ll be back home Sunday evening. What a whirlwind trip! I’ll get you a more complete recap when I’m home and have had time to ruminate on the highlights. One thing I know for sure–there will be a lot of them!
