Marks of Repentance

Trapped by the goddess' demand for a life, a desperate woman must choose between conceiving a child for sacrifice or forfeiting her own. But the king, incensed by a doomsday prophet from a neighboring land, offers absolution to Taifa if she neutralizes the intruder. She seizes the opportunity to extricate herself.

Guilt overwhelms her when she allows herself to see past the foreigner's mask and realizes how much they have in common. If he forgives her, he could offer her freedom and love. Is he too bound by his god's stringent laws to aid her escape from her own?
