Strange Inspirations

Ever been somewhere intriguing and started imagining a story taking place right there? Ever begin to see characters and what they’re doing, saying, feeling in this real-life setting?

Doesn’t happen to me often. In fact, it’s happened to me once. Here.

This is Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria, BC. What kind of story would you imagine taking place (at least partly) in a cemetery? Some people might think horror. Suspense.

Maybe historical? Click the photo to enlarge it enough to read the inscription.

Or maybe…contemporary romance.

Romance in a cemetery? Yeah, that’s where my brain went when I was plotting and writing Joy Comes in the Morning.

Tell me about your favorite real-world setting!
