2025 in Review
Whoosh!!! Another year has zipped on by. I’m not sure how that continues to happen, but it does. I had goals for this year (didn’t we all?) At any rate, I shared my goals with you in this post, sneakily named Goals for 2025!
By the way, if you’re ever curious how the year is progressing and what is “coming soon” that link is kept quite up to date as I progress through various WIPs (works in progress). I reset all the progress bars at the end of each year.
I planned to write 4 complete novels in 2025 for a total of 200,000 words.
So, what did I WRITE in 2025?
- A Hidden Heiress for the Cowboy (66,000 words — Sweet River Ranch Romance 6)
- Her Thankful Heart (62,000 words — Christmas at Maranatha Inn Romance 1)
- Her Hopeful Heart (66,000 words — Christmas at Maranatha Inn Romance 2)
- Take the Reins, Cowgirl (61,000 words — Cavanagh Cowgirls Romance 1)
- Drop the Spurs, Cowgirl (65,000 words — Cavanagh Cowgirls Romance 2)
Yep, I actually fit in an entire extra novel, and all of them clocked in at least 10,000 words higher than expected for a total of 320,000 words (ish)! I believe that is a personal best year-end total.
What did I PUBLISH in 2025?
A “little” extra there, too.
- A Hidden Heiress for the Cowboy (66,000 words — Sweet River Ranch Romance 6)
- Her Waiting Heart (30,000 words — Christmas at Maranatha Inn Romance 0)
- Take the Reins, Cowgirl (61,000 words — Cavanagh Cowgirls Romance 1)
- Her Thankful Heart (62,000 words — Christmas at Maranatha Inn Romance 1)
- Her Hopeful Heart (66,000 words — Christmas at Maranatha Inn Romance 2)
Her Waiting Heart is not published on Amazon, but it’s available to my newsletter subscribers. The total published words this year is about 285,000 (I’d planned for 190,000!). I honestly didn’t realize I’d overshot my goals by this much until tallying this up. It’s why I love these “goal posts!!
Other Publishing Goals for 2025
• Sweet River Ranch Romance box set 4-6 (fall 2025) (did it!!!)
Communication Goals for 2025
• Blog here at least once a month, including more THM recipes, since they attract new visitors. Also more book reviews! (um, a big failure on this one)
• Send email newsletters every second week (sign up here) (yep, did it!)
• Post to my FB Readers Group several times a week (join here) (did it!)
• Post on my Facebook page 1-2x a month. (follow here) (another failure!)
You know why I’m extra EXTRA stoked about surpassing my writing goals? Because Jim and I also took ten weeks off this summer for a road trip with the cat, truck, and travel trailer to Ontario. During that time I didn’t write at all. I did a round of edits on Her Thankful Heart and managed to publish it while we were away, as well as keep up with my newsletters and reader group.
What about you? Did you meet your goals for 2024? What do you expect 2025 to look like for you?
I’ve been posting my annual goals to my blog for quite a few years, if you’d like to have a look. Before 2009, my reporting was a bit haphazard, so after poking around for a while, I decided “back then” wasn’t relevant! Still, if it would amuse you, here’s the list:

I love that you keep track of your goals! That’s a lot of writing, well done! It typically takes me many years to finish one book. I just shared a post reflecting on my THM Journey this last year and setting THM goals for next year.
