Welcome author Carrie Turansky to our second Author Newsletter monthly feature.
About Your Service
Which newsletter service do you use?
How long have you been using this service?
Since March 2011
Are you a convert from another service and, if so, why?
How did you choose it (ie: what criteria were important to you?)
I was looking for low cost, ease in creating an attractive newsletter, easy access to help with issues, good management of my mailing list.
What do you like best about it? The worst?
I like the ease of adding photos, moving things around, making changes. I have been very satisfied so far. One month there was an issue with broken links, but they fixed things and had them up and running quickly.
What, if anything, is the cost?
My cost is $10 a month for less than 1000 newsletters each time I use it. I send around 900.
About Your Newsletters
How often do you send a newsletter (or how many have you sent so far)?
I send a newsletter every other month and when I have a new release. I’ve sent 6 so far.
What is the purpose of your newsletter?
I want to connect with my readers, give them news about my books, encourage them, and share writing tips and reading recommendations.
How easy (or difficult!) do you find creating your newsletters? Why?
There is a learning curve at first as you work with the templates, but after a while it becomes much easier.
What do you always try to include in each letter?
Lots of interesting photos, something about my books, a recipe, something personal to connect with people.
About Your Subscription Base
How do your subscribers find your email sign up?
It’s on several pages of my website. I encourage people to sign up if they contact me about my books.
Do you offer an incentive for new subscribers?
Occasionally I will offer a free download of an eBook for new subscribers.
Are your subscribers the same people who are your Facebook fans, or who follow your blog or Twitter? Some are the same.
