In the early 1960s, the USA placed a trade embargo on Cuba due to the island’s close ties with the Soviet Union. The embargo wasn’t lifted when the Berlin Wall fell and, with it, trade between the USSR and Cuba.
80% of trade ended pretty much overnight. How has Cuba been managing to feed itself since? While the situation is not perfect, there are bright spots. Here’s a 6-minute video that will give you a glimpse.
