Now that the Genesis contest results have all been gathered (but we’ve not yet been notified of the results), I’m also finished the fourth draft of the revision of Chloe’s novel, the romance. Short history: I wrote this novel during NaNoWriMo in 2005, then abandoned it until a friend’s stray comment reminded me of something in my own novel. When I poked at it in January of 2008, I could see that it would require a lot of work to make it publishable, so I set it aside again. This January I decided it’s time had come and jumped in with both feet, using some of the techniques I’ve been learning through Holly Lisle’s How To Think Sideways class.
I completely rewrote the novel in February and March, then revised that rewrite in April, and then did a quick continuity read-through a couple of days ago that necessitated a few more tweaks. And it is off to two critique partners while I refocus on other projects.
Dottie has been waiting for me to get back to her since about November, so she’s up next on the list. Watch the sidebar to see the story’s first draft move toward completion!
And I’m starting to think about a brand new project that has been waking me up at night–always a good sign! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to work on developing it (using How To Think Sideways) while finishing Dottie’s first draft. At least that’s the plan!
