Have you read a book or two that you absolutely loved this year? Did you think to thank the author?
There are several ways to do so, of course. You can send an email or a snail mail letter or card. You can send a box of chocolates or a package of your favorite coffee. But the best gifts? Reviews.
If you have a blog, review your favorite books. This doesn’t require deep thinking or a lot of time. Just say what the book title was, what the story was about, and why you liked it. That’s it. If you want to be a bit fancier, you can add the cover image and a link to Amazon or other online bookstore. I like to add the author’s photo and a bit about them, but you sure don’t have to.
If you don’t have a blog and want to send some love, go to the book’s page at online booksellers. Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, BarnesandNoble.com, Goodreads, and ChristianBook.com are all good options. You may know of others.
Actually, post online reviews at the distributor level even if you blog about the book. You can use the same words. Just copy and paste them from one venue to the next.
I don’t know about you, but I often check out a book’s reviews, especially if the author is new to me. For the gift of a few minutes of your time, you can provide a lovely thumbs-up for some of your favorite authors!
