Introducing… Drop the Spurs, Cowgirl
Welcome back to Happy Trails Riding Stables, the business the three Cavanagh sisters have started on the outskirts of Jewel Lake, Montana!
Vivienne Johnson was the third sister to arrive on the scene when her sister, Ainsley, reunited with her baby’s father, Nathaniel, back in Let Me Off Easy, Cowboy. That’s when we all (me included LOL) discovered that Declan had a daughter no one else knew about.
It was quite an adjustment for Viv. Her and Ainsley’s mom had passed away, and neither had known their fathers. Now Viv is thrust into a family with three older half-brothers, three older stepbrothers, and twin half-sisters two years younger than her. And a dad who’d hidden her existence from everyone.
It’s years later now, but Vivienne is still insecure. Still feels like she doesn’t really belong. Still struggles with her father’s love — both her earthly father and her heavenly Father. She’s thankful for the opportunities being Declan’s daughter has given her, but she doesn’t trust that he’s really there for her. That any man could be.
And that’s the backdrop to where we find Vivienne as she and the twins open Happy Trails together!
I loved giving Vivienne her own happily-ever-after after she’s come to grips with the love of both her fathers and found a measure of peace. And Branson had been on my mind for a long time, as he’d been a big part of Ryder Cavanagh’s story in Trust Me With Your Heart, Cowboy.
About Drop the Spurs, Cowgirl:
Vivienne Cavanagh’s half-sisters invite her to join them in building Happy Trails Stables, which sounds like the kind of stability Viv has craved all her life. She’s become a pediatric nurse practitioner so she’ll never need to depend on a man for anything the way her needy mother did. God, her sisters, her horse, and a real home in Jewel Lake? That’s all she needs.
Branson DeWitt knew a guy shouldn’t date his best friend’s kid sister, so he didn’t. But when his past jumps in front of him, destroying his engagement to Viv’s best friend, he reacts poorly. Being a lawyer means he knows right and wrong, but it’s not always easy to act on it, and Viv knows too many details. If she didn’t hate him so much, he’d try to explain… and enlist her help.
Viv’s too smart to get caught in Branson’s web, but what if he’s for real? Because if there’s anything she can’t ignore, it’s a small, innocent child in need of comfort.
