It’s springtime in Bridgeview as we head into the eleventh story in the series! As I sat back and considered the aspects of local food already highlighted in the Urban Farm Fresh Romance series, I realized that I’d brushed over Wade Roper’s permaculture forest project a few times but hadn’t really spent any time exploring it. It’s been Wade’s dream since the introductory novella, Promise of Peppermint, and became a reality in Secrets of Sunbeams (book 1). But sometimes several books would go by without even a mention of this food forest down along the riverfront.
Why?! LOL. Well, partly because, by their nature, permaculture gardens don’t require a lot of work. They’re designed to be low-maintenance and virtually self-caring. Jasmine has a couple of beehives there (Wishes on Wildflowers, book 4) but there didn’t seem to be much else I could do with the area as a major project. I should have thought of that back in the earliest books, but things went a different direction, and here we are.
But I decided Wade could apply for some grants for installing a pond and bog area. With a solar-powered pump, it should still be mostly maintenance free. He’d need to hire someone to do the digging and installation, though. Enter Seth Donahue, whom we briefly met as Dixie’s friend in Dancing at Daybreak (book 7).
But why would a grown man need a temporary job? So, I gave Seth a complicated past…
About Joys of Juniper
Dance and music teacher Ava Santoro has led a sheltered life, and she likes it that way. Now she’s ready for Mr. Right to come her way. He’ll be a kindred spirit, a gentle, bookish guy, and a life-long Christian. Not someone like the somewhat-reformed temporary worker in her favorite refuge this summer.
Seth Donahue is scrambling to gain permanent guardianship of his two half-sisters. Too bad he’s dropped out of college — twice — and is struggling to find flexible employment. When his new neighbor offers him a job in Bridgeview’s food forest, he’s surprised to discover he enjoys working with edible plants. He didn’t expect to meet a vivacious dancer who challenges him to choose joy over dulling the pain of his past.
When Ava discovers Seth’s background, it might be too late to guard her heart. How can Seth convince her he’s a changed man?
Joys of Juniper is currently available only on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited for the foreseeable future. It is also available as a paperback anywhere you shop for books online.
