Introducing… No Sparks Allowed
The story that wouldn’t let me go…
I don’t write many standalones. In fact, this is only my second one out of over 60 titles… and (cough) neither is a true standalone.
Her Unlikely Hero leans heavily on Dafne Santoro’s story found in the Urban Farm Fresh Romance series and in KIss Me Like You Mean It, Cowboy.
No Sparks Allowed leans heavily on the Christmas at Maranatha Inn stories, but definitely doesn’t fit the mold to actually be part of that series.
The introductory novella (get your free copy of Her Waiting Heart here) is about Kyle’s parents, while the first full novel, Her Thankful Heart, is about Melissa’s dad.
We’ve also met Kyle and his daughter, Maggie, throughout the Cavanagh Cowgirls series. I toyed briefly with pairing Kyle with the third Cavanagh sister, Alexia, but they were not a match made in heaven (or in my office)!
But Maggie was just too much fun to let go of. She’s been raised by her single dad (and by her grandmother) and all she wants is a mother. Maggie knows no boundaries. In her mind, the end justifies the means. It doesn’t matter to her that her dad doesn’t want to date. Obviously, he will be very happy with the woman Maggie finds to marry him, even if she has to hack his Facebook account to find her!
There’s only one woman totally out of bounds, and that’s the mother of Maggie’s nemesis, Sidney. A year apart in age, the two girls are in the same figure skating club, where Maggie can’t help being a better skater than Sidney. The rivalry between the two has long ago spilled out of the rink and into daily life.
I can’t even tell you how much fun writing this story was for me! It simply flowed, day after day, as Maggie’s escapades grew… and her father went behind her back to spend time with Sidney’s mother! The adults knew no sparks were allowed, but… what if???
About No Sparks Allowed:
It’s impossible for electrician Kyle Johannesson to date. His tween daughter is so desperate for a mom, she’d be ringing wedding bells before he knew the woman’s last name. She’s even begged total strangers to date him. Only her arch-nemesis’s mother appears to be off limits. Is that why Kyle feels compelled to help when Melissa needs a hand?
Melissa Everett’s hot water tank quits while her kids are with their dad for two weeks. How can she say no when Kyle offers to replace it at cost? She almost allows herself to dream there could be more, but the reality of their daughters’ feud reminds her it can never be. No sparks allowed!
When Melissa oversees both girls at figure skating camp, two things need to stop: the girls’ fight with each other… and Melissa’s fight with God. How can growing faith guide them into forming an unlikely family?
