The second Montana Ranches Christian Romance released on December first. When I write a novel, it nearly always goes like this:
Chapters 1-3: Wheeee! Isn’t this fun!
Chapters 4-10: Wait a minute! What do these characters want? What’s this story about, anyway?
Chapters 11-15: This is the worst thing I ever wrote. The. Worst. Story. Ever. Yes, worse than the last one, in which I said the same thing.
Chapters 16-20: There might be a light at the end of the tunnel. I think… I think… I think I can figure this out.
Chapters 21-24: Wheeeee! That was a rush! Look how it all came together. Thank You, God!!! I can’t wait to do it again.
Every. Single. Time. Except this time! For the first time since I can remember (and I’ve written over thirty stories now), I didn’t hit the wall at that one-third-to-one-half-ish mark. This time, it was wheeeeee!!! all the way through. It won’t likely ever happen again, so I’m sincerely thankful for this one great experience!
I’ve got a little story for you. When my thirty-something son was in high school, he and a girl from his youth group got talking about what if they didn’t find the love of their life before they were ancient, like thirty? And they pledged to marry each other if this unthinkable thing should happen. Well, they were spared that marriage of convenience. Both married and have families. I’m not sure if they’ve seen each other in over a dozen years, since the girl moved far away. But the fact that they made this pact stuck in my head and became part of the basis for the second Montana Ranches Christian Romance!
Friends don’t let friends turn thirty… single.
It’s been fourteen long years since two teens made a pact to marry each other if both remained single at thirty. But the nearer the time comes, the more Lauren Yanovich steps up her matchmaking game to let James off the hook. Not that he likely remembers.
James Carmichael has been waiting forever, praying Lauren will be waiting for him. But, just when the end is in sight, she begins dating someone else, and his hopes crumble.
What’s a cowboy to do when the love of his life insists they’re all wrong for each other?
The Cowboy’s Mixed-Up Matchmaker is currently available only on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for sharing the ‘real’ story behind the story.
I’m glad you enjoyed that tidbit of background!
