Yes, I know Raspberries and Vinegar released in August, but last Saturday it had its moment in the sun at a local launch party. I was delighted that my daughter Hanna, the cover designer, was able to visit for the event (bringing my two young granddaughters to visit, which also was awesome, but I digress…) and take some photos. I also put her on the spot to tell the story of how she designed the cover.
Here we’re chatting as the ladies were getting settled.
I gave a brief talk on how the story came to be written and published, then read the first chapter.
Here’s a photo from the back of the room.
I’d planned to serve local snacks as befitted the local food nature of the novel. However, the health inspector had something to say, requiring all the food to be made in a commercial kitchen. I created a batch of raspberry vinegar in the kitchen of the bookstore (they also have a lunch and snack bar) and cobbled together some local snacks and some store-bought.
About 30 women attended. More books were sold than people present, so I consider that a win! It was such fun celebrating with family, friends, and a few women I didn’t know. Yes, I was nervous ahead of time, but it was a blast!
Have you ever had a local launch party? Any tips to share? Ideas for next time?

Looks like a great turnout, Valerie. I wish I could have been there. I’m glad you could at least share some Raspberry Vinegar with your guests.
For my local launch, I’m planning to serve blueberry tarts. My heroine, Ruth, makes amazing blueberry pie.
