On Wednesday I reviewed Imaginary Jesus, a novel by Matt Mikalatos. Today I want to draw your attention to a contest relating to Matt’s novel, open to any Americans to enter.
Now, I’m not American, but lots of you are, and Matt is giving away some awesome prizes at his contest site. The prize list is impressive:

Only one lucky contestant will win:
• A FREE, brand new Kindle e-reader, including case.
• A FREE, brand new Apple iPod Touch, including case.
• An all expense paid trip for two to meet Matt Mikalatos in Portland, Oregon where they will spend the day with Matt, visit two Portland sites found in Imaginary Jesus and have lunch with Matt.
• $100 gift certificate to Powell’s Books.
• A copy of Imaginary Jesus signed by Matt Mikalatos.
*Trip must be taken on August 20, 2010 or on another date arranged by author and sponsor. See Contest Terms & Conditions for more information.

SECOND PLACE PRIZES
• One hundred (100) 2nd place winners will receive a copy of Imaginary Jesus signed by Matt Mikalatos.
How you can enter (condensed version):
Write an essay in 750 words or less, create a video clip between 3-5 minutes, or create an 8 ½ x 11 drawing (artwork) that describes/depicts your experience with an imaginary Jesus in your own life, how you came to know that he wasn’t the real thing, and how your life has changed now that you have a better understanding of who Jesus is.
Detailed instructions for how to enter on or before July 1, 2010, 11:59 p.m. CST are here. There’s not much time left, so get cracking!
What cool promotional ideas and contests have you seen surrounding new book releases? I’m curious what other authors (and their publishing houses) are doing. (Remember I’m on vacation and may not be able to moderate comments quickly.)
