My hubby has been buying party snacks lately. You know, the kind that has pretzels and Cheerios and cheese-its and other fun crunchy salty stuff in it. And I have been glaring at his bag and walking away, because I KNOW that bag is full of all kinds of off-plan ingredients! I don’t want to do that to myself.
But I want party snacks, darn it.
I really do.
Hey, you know what? I used to make my own. I dug out the recipe. Yeah, all the munchy bits are totally off-plan.
But I’m resourceful. What could I use instead of Cheerios? Instead of Shreddies? Instead of pretzels? The recipe called for 2.25 cups of four different bite-size things and a sauce to bake them in. The sauce? Perfectly THM.
So I began looking for ideas, and this is what I came up with. Three of the four munchies are out-of-the-package ingredients, but I really liked the idea of cheese-its, so I found a recipe online and made it. This is super simple and tasty. I’d add a bit more seasoning if I were making them again, but they didn’t need a wow factor since they were going straight into party snacks!
So, first make this recipe: 2 Ingredient Parmesan Cheese Crackers. Also, you’re welcome.

The exact ratio is unimportant. If you want a few more nuts and a few less pork rinds, go for it. If you think of something else that might work, mix and match for a total of ten (ish) cups. Mix up your munchy parts in a large bowl.
Also, I wasn’t sure if the Whisps would melt. They’re made of only cheese, after all. I tossed a few on top for the first baking segment and they remained crispy, so I mixed the rest in. Next time I will stir them in from the start.
Next, heat your oven to 275°. I did this in the heat of July, just for you. Okay, just for me, since we’re going camping and I wanted my own party snacks, darn it. #partyforone
Pour the sauce over the munchy parts and stir well. Dump onto two rimmed cookie sheets. Bake at 275° for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Let cool before storing in a sealed container. Can be frozen.
Or, you know, have a party and eat them! Share if you like, but if you’re having a party for one? I won’t tell.
This is a snack Sadie from Raindrops on Radishes will enjoy in her Trim Healthy Mama story!
