Roasted nuts are a great addition to a party spread this time of year! If you don’t have (or like) hazelnuts, also known as filberts, try a different nut. We have both walnut and hazelnut trees on our farm, so it seemed natural to try something fun with the hazelnuts.
Honey Spiced Hazelnuts (4 cups)
In a saucepan over low heat, melt:
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup honey
Turn off heat and add:
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
Mix spices in, then add:
4 cups raw, unsalted hazelnuts (about one pound)
Stir thoroughly to coat the nuts, then spread in a greased baking pan. Bake at 300 for about 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to evenly coat.
Remove from pan and completely cool before putting in containers.
Yum!
