When publisher Thomas Nelson offered Really Woolly Bible Stories through its BookSneeze blogger program, I signed up for a free copy (though opinions in this review, as always, are my own). My daughter and son-in-law read several story books a day to my granddaughter, who is now ten months old. I thought it would be great to give her a book of Bible stories for Christmas.
Really Woolly Bible Stories is part of a DaySpring series featuring (you guessed it!) really woolly illustrations by Julie Sawyer Phillips. It contains rhyming-style Bible stories retold by Bonnie Rickner Jensen ranging from creation through the great commission. A few of the rhymes are a bit of a stretch, either word or cadence wise, but all in all, it’s an ideal introduction to the Bible for very small children. It’s rated for ages 4-8, but if you have a younger child than that, please keep in mind that it’s a padded board book and therefore quite sturdy. Besides, you should be reading to your baby anyway! Get started with this book.
